Even though lockdown is a “thing” the monitor that I bought pre-lockdown had this insanely frustrating issue where it would turn off for a few seconds every minute or so. I decided to crack it open to see what was going on, which was much easier than I thought, and I think I know what part is failing, but my soldering technique is not quite up to scratch yet since I need to desolder a small surface-mount chip and replace it. That has yet to occur since the parts are on back order, but we’ll see if I manage.
It’s absolutely critical that I have a good workstation set up at home. I’ve done the whole “spend an entire workday typing at your laptop” and it is incredibly uncomfortable after a day. After a few days, I need to take a couple of days off for my hands to rest since I’ll be in so much pain that it hurts to even do regular tasks like getting dressed. Of course my work is not paying for any ergonomic improvements to the home office so we’ll see how all of this shakes out.
