This was my last day at work. After today I decided that it wasn’t worth the risk taking public transit for an hour each way and possibly get sick.
Someone from another lab was presenting in lab meeting and brought snacks for everyone to share, which seems to be something of a tradition in their lab group. It was nice to have that kind of community for once.
My supervisor refused to schedule lab meetings or organize joint lab meetings with other PIs, even after I had asked several times, so I gave up on convincing him and instead decided to start going to other people’s lab meetings. I’ve been to several other lab groups’ meetings and it was fantastic being able to finally talk to other people about science that I had been lacking in the lab group that I actually belonged to. I think the other PIs were a bit confused why I wasn’t going to my own lab group meetings but I think they were happy to hang out with me regardless.
